No words can express the damage to life and property caused by recent (June, 2013) floods in Uttrakhand State of India. Uttrakhand is a mountainous state of North India and its ecology is very fragile.Major industries are Hydro power generation and religious tourism and both of them are putting immense adverse pressure on natural resources. It is a high time to decide our prorities.The debate on the reasons behind the catestrophe is going on , it can best  be termed as 'Anthropogenic Natural Disaster' (AND) The crumbling environment due to excess of exploitation may create similar problems in other places also. A model of economic growth centred only around 'Growth' and 'consumption' needs a critical thinking. Please go through different reasons provided by different sources on this issue to get an insight.
