Significance of Ganga Dussehra ( 20 June ,2020)
Goddess Ganga came on Earth on rthis day after the great penance of saint Bhagirath. It is believed that if one recites the Ganga Stotram on this day, while standing in the water of Ganges, gets relieved from the curses of all the sins.
Ganga Stotram is written in Skand Puran with the name of Dussehra. There is a tradition of donating on Ganga Dussehra – the quantity of the donating item should be in count of 10. Also, the material for worship should also in the count of 10. Doing this boosts up the positive results. Bathing on this day eliminates the 10 types of sins. 3 of them are physical, 4 are spoken and rests 3 are mental. The devotee gets freed from all the sins after bath.
The ganga is a life supporting system and it's well being will determine quality of life of millions of people living along places along its bank. The conflicting intersts of modern society is responsible for its pollution and other ecological problems.The Ganges provides countless benifits to us ranging from food to salvation.
