We are celebrating Ganga Dussehra on 12 June, 2019 as 'Ganga Mohotsav' on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar .This day is celebrated to mark the descent of the Holy River Ganga on the earth from the Heavans. Every year we are celebrating this festival to make this festival popular among people and to contribute in the conservation of the Ganga and all other rivers of country.

About Ganga Dusherra
The word 'Dusherra' literally means (Dush=10, Harra= to get free from).It means that if one worships the Ganges on this festival gets rid of 10 types of sins, which are consciously or unconsciously committed by us in life
This festival is celebrated to mark the arrival of river Ganga on the Earth. According to indian mythology the Ganges was originally residing in the vessel of Lord Brahma before descending on the Earth,so she is a divine entity and that divinity of heaven descended on earth along with her. Ganga Dussherra is celebrated to in commemorate of the day of incarnation of Goddess Ganga on Earth.
The ganga is a life supporting system and it's well being will determine quality of life of millions of people living along places along its bank. The conflicting intersts of modern society is responsible for its pollution and other ecological problems.The Ganges provides countless benifits to us ranging from food to salvation. It is duty of everyone of protect this National river of India. Well being of the Ganga is an absolute indicator of environmental well being of India. |
